Beads

All of my beads are individually handmade in my studio at the foot of the Mendip Hills in Somerset.  I am totally addicted to working with glass and can sit for hours playing working at my torch, creating new designs and ideas.

Purchasing my beads:
I am currently in the process of setting up my Etsy shop for online purchasing, however, if you can't wait that long then why not pop over to my facebook page to see the my latest work straight from the kiln...

For those of you who would like to know how my beads are made, here is a little more information.

The Glass Beadmaking Process:
A coloured glass rod is heated until molten in a hot flame and then wound around a pre-coated stainless steel rod (to create the hole in the middle).

The steel rod is then gently turned whilst in the flame to melt the glass and create a nice round shaped bead before further decoration is added.

When the bead is complete, it is put into a digitally controlled kiln to be cooled gently overnight. This process helps to strengthen the bead and stops it from breaking if it is accidently dropped on a hard floor!

After each bead has been cooled and removed from the kiln, it is gently pulled from the rod before being cleaned and quality checked.
